Adaptations are bodily or behavioural changes exhibited by an organism which helps in the survival of that organism in its habitat.

The adaptations shown by the aquatic animals are-

  • Their body is streamlined which helps them to swim easily.
  • Gills are present as the respiratory organs.
  • They have fins that facilitate locomotion.
  • Some fishes have modified swim bladder which helps them in constantly floating at a certain depth of water.
  • The body is covered by scales for protection.
