  1. The brain is covered with a protective coat of tissues together called the meninges.
  2. The three layers of meninges are- the outer dura mater, middle arachnoid mater, and inner pia mater.
  3. The meninges are responsible for nourishment and protection.
  4. The meninges act as a shock absorber. It also provides the cells with oxygen and nutrition and helps in the removal of wastes.
