Solution

The correct option is A True

Transpiration:

  1. Transpiration is the process in which plants release the water inside them in the form of moisture or water vapor.
  2. Transpiration helps in the ascent of sap due to a suction force or pull created by the loss of water.
  3. As the water evaporates from leaves, a suction force is developed at top of the plant which draws more water from the soil through roots and stems.
  4. The water passes from the soil to the root by root pressure.
  5. The long and thin shape of root hairs maximizes surface area and water pass from the soil to the root hairs.
  6. The next stage in the transpiration stream is water passing into the xylem vessels.
  7. The water either goes through the cortex cells (between the root cells and the xylem vessels) or bypasses them – going through their cell walls.
  8. After this, the water moves up the xylem vessels to the leaves through diffusion.

Final answer: The given statement is true.
