Solution

The correct option is B False

Transpiration:

  1. Transpiration is the process in which plants release the water inside them in the form of moisture or water vapour.
  2. Depending on the part that performs transpiration, the different types are Stomatal transpiration, Cuticular transpiration, and Lenticular Transpiration.

Stomatal transpiration:

  1. Stomatal transpiration accounts for maximum transpiration in young plants.
  2. Stomata are minute openings present on both surfaces of leaves.
  3. They facilitate the exchange of gases between the leaf and the atmosphere.
  4. The water is absorbed by the root hair from the soil and moves upwards with the help of xylem vessels.
  5. The spongy mesophyll cells in the leaves have a large number of intracellular spaces. These cells give out some water as a thin film.
  6. The water from this thin film evaporates in the form of water vapour. The water vapour formed then saturates the air in the intracellular spaces.
  7. This water vapour then accumulates and reaches the substomatal spaces through various connecting intracellular spaces by diffusion.
  8. The water vapour escapes from the stomata by the process of diffusion.

Final answer: The given statement is false.
