Importance of classification:
It helps in giving information about the essential features of the entire group by studying one or two organisms in a particular group.
It gives an idea of the range of diversity found in living organisms.
It gives a system of identification for known and unknown organisms.
The inter-relationship among different groups of organisms can be studied by classification.
It helps us to know the origin and evolution of various groups of organisms.
It forms a base for the development of other biological sciences such as forestry, ecology, applied biology, etc.
