Suspension: Suspension is a heterogeneous mixture in which the solute particles do not dissolve but remain suspended throughout the bulk of the medium.

Properties of Suspensions:

1. It is a heterogeneous mixture(a mixture with a non-uniform composition).
2. Particles in a suspension are larger than$100\mathrm{nm}$in diameter and are easily visible to the naked eye.
3. It is possible to see the path of a beam of light passing through a suspension when the particles scatter the light.
4. The solute particles of a suspension settle down when it is left undisturbed, i.e., a suspension is unstable.
5. The suspension particles can be separated from the mixture by the process of filtration because the particles do not pass through a filter paper.
6. When the particles settle down, the suspension breaks, and light can no longer be scattered by it.
