Mention the role of Methanobacterium in rumen of cattle

Methanobacterium are also called as methanogens. They are found in the rumen of cattle. In the rumen of cattle, they break down the food eaten by cattle and produce methane gas. This is done by the fermentation process. The methane gas is released in the atmosphere during exhalation.
