  1. Nitrogen is a building component of proteins, chlorophyll, and cytoplasm. (1 mark)
    Its deficiency causes:
    • Retarded/stunted growth in plants (0.5 mark)
    • Yellowing of plant leaves (0.5 mark)
  2. Potassium is required by the plant in order to perform several metabolic activities. (1 mark)
    Its deficiency causes:
    • Development of weak stem (0.5 mark)
    • Wilting of leaves (0.5 mark)
