Solution

In molecular biology, Vectors are basically DNA molecules that are used as vehicles that are capable of carrying the foreign genetic material by artificial means into another cell or organism, in which it is expressed or replicated. A vector which contains the foreign DNA that is to be carried is called as recombinant DNA.

The most common examples of vectors are plasmids, cosmids, and Lambda phages.
