Solution

ACTH ( Adrenocorticotropic hormone) is a hormone secreted by the anterior lobe of the pituitary glands. ACTH stimulates the adrenal cortex to release corticosteroids namely glucocorticoids such as cortisol and mineralocorticoids such as aldosterone. Glucocorticoids stimulate glucose synthesis. Mineralocorticoids regulate water and ion balance in the body.
