Power (P)=VI
Energy loss by heat effect can be reduced by
(1) Decreasing the intensity of the current
(2) By decreasing the resistance of the line.
For decreasing the current intensity, the voltage is increased by using a step-up transformer. The electricity thus obtained is passed through thick lines (low resistance). Now, the energy loss due to heating effect is very much reduced. The branches of trees which touch the phase line should be removed or the phase line should be enclosed in a PVC pipe.
