Dear Student,
The two broad categories of Indian rivers are
1. The Himalayan rivers: These are rivers that originate in the Himalayas and flow in northern India. An important feature of these rivers is that they are perennial as they receive water from the snow in the Himalayas.
2. The Peninsular rivers: These are rivers that flow in the peninsular part of India. Many such rivers are seasonal as they receive water only from rainfall.
