If you are indoors when a earthquake hits then the precautions that can be taken are as follows :

1. Stay inside until the shaking stops and it is safe to exit.

2. Stay away from bookcases and other furniture that can fall on you.

3. Stay away from windows and light fixtures.

4. If you are in bed – hold on and stay there.
