Mention two precautions which must be taken while constructing a music hall or auditorium. [5 MARKS]
Precaution : 2.5 Mark each
Two precautions that must be kept in mind while constructing halls or auditoriums are:
1. To prevent reverberation (persistence of sound in large halls), the roof and walls of the auditorium are generally covered with sound-absorbent materials like compressed fibreboard, rough plaster or draperies. The seat materials are also selected on the basis of their sound absorbing properties.
2. The ceilings of music halls, conference halls and auditoriums are curved so that sound after reflection reaches all corners of the hall.
