Question

Mention two uses of Hydraulic brake.

Open in App
Solution

HYDRAULIC BRAKES:

  1. The hydraulic brake is a braking system structure where sufficient brake fluid has been used to shift pressure from the control mechanism to the brake mechanism.
  2. A hydraulic brake circuit has fluid-filled master and slave cylinders connected by pipes.
  3. Many other vehicles use hydraulic brakes such as cranes, lifts, elevators, aeroplanes, and mining vehicles.
  4. The uses and applications for hydraulic brakes are endless, and all use similar systems and components.

Thus, the hydraulic system has many merits.

  1. Its simple levers and push buttons make it easy to start, stop, accelerate and decelerate.
  2. This also allows for control accuracy.
  3. It provides a constant force, regardless of changes in speed.
  4. Hydraulic systems are safe to use in chemical plants and mines because they do not cause sparks.
  5. The working of hydraulic machines is based on Pascal’s Law.
