Solution

The correct option is B 488 cm3
Given, radius of each metal sphere = 2 cm
Internal dimensions of a rectangular box,
l = 16 cm, b = 8 cm and h = 8 cm

Volume of a metallic sphere =43πr3=43×3.14×(2)3
=43×3.14×8

Now, volume of 16 metallic spheres =4×3.14×8×163=100.48×163
=1607.683=535.89 cm3

Internal volume of the rectangular box
=l×b×h=16×8×8
=1024 cm3

Volume of preservative liquid = 1024 – 535.89
=488.11 cm3488 cm3

Hence, the volume of preservative liquid when 16 metallic spheres are packed in the rectangular box is 488 cm3.
