Which of the following is considered a metalloid?
Boron
The elements which are placed on the left side (except hydrogen) and in the centre of the periodic table are metals. Examples are sodium, magnesium, iron, zinc, etc.
The elements placed on the right side of the periodic table are nonmetals such as oxygen, chlorine, neon, etc.
Metals and non-metals are separated from each other in the periodic table by a zig-zag line. The elements placed in the zig-zag line exhibit properties of both metals and non-metals and are called metalloids, such as boron (B), silicon (Si), germanium (Ge), arsenic (As), antimony (Sb), tellurium (Te) and polonium (Po).
