Methane ( $C H_{4}$ ) is a saturated organic compound that is considered best for fuel use because the combustion of methane yields a very less amount of carbon dioxide ( $C O_{2}$ ), which causes less pollution and less harm to the environment.
Also, the gaseous nature of many compounds makes it difficult for storage purposes but it is easy to store methane even for a long period of time.
The combustion of methane is shown below:
