Milk ring test also called Brucellosis Ring Test (BRT) is conducted in dairies. A suspension of killed Brucella pathogen with haematoxylin is added to the milk sample and kept in a water bath. If the animal is infected with Brucellosis, the milk sample will contain antibodies. Hence the test will be positive and a bluish ring is formed at the cream line as the cream rises. If antibodies are absent no coloured ring is formed, and the milk remains uniformly blue.
