Question

Milk World Ltd is a government-owned milk distribution centre. Earlier they used to distribute milk in bottles as shown in the figure for Rs 8 per bottle. Now they have decided to reduce the price per bottle by 50 paise by reducing the size of the bottle. However, they do not want their old customers to notice this change in the size of the bottle so they plan to reduce the circumference of the opening of the bottle without changing the height of the bottle. Solution

The correct option is D None of these
Volume of bottle =πR2H+13πh(R2+r2+R.r)
=π×6×6×4+13π×3(62+42+6×4)
=144π+76π=220πcm3
% reduction in price =0.508×100=254%
Reduction in frustum volume =76π254% of 220π
=76π25400×220π
=76π55π4
=249π4
13π×3(62+r2+6r)=249π4
36+r2+6r=2494144+4r2+24r=249
4r2+24r105=0
The value of r is 2.94cm.
