Chondrocytes (cells found in cartilage), osteocytes (cells found in mature bone) and mesenchymal cells (cells found in tissues of lymphatic and circulatory systems and also in connective systems) are three different kinds of cells. All these three types of cells are not capable of undergoing division once differentiated (in adults). But at certain places, some cells (called stem cells) are present, which are able to undergo differentiation and remove the worn out differentiated cells. So, such kind of division of cells is referred to as accretionary growth. On the other hand, multiplicative growth results from an increase in the number of cells of the organism. Auxetic growth occurs, when there is an increase in size of the cell (not number of cells).
