(i) They form govt. after winning elections i.e. .the political party which wins majority seats in the legislature forms the govt.

(ii) Political party which does not win majority seats in the legislature forms the opposition. It criticizes the govt. For its acts of omission and commission.

(iii) Political parties are important for representative democracies as they bring representatives together to form the govt.
