1. It overused natural resources like the use of groundwater with the help of tube wells which reduced the water table below the earth.
2. Modern farming requires more inputs than traditional farming. It requires chemical fertilizers, pesticides, pump sets, farm machinery, electricity, diesel, HYV seeds, and water supply. Most of the inputs for modern farming are manufactured in factories. All this leads to an increase in the cost of production.
3. The excessive use of modern methods has caused soil infertility which leads to an increase in the use of chemical fertilizers.
