The given image shows that Earth's shadow lies completely inside the Moon.

Now, for the naked eye:

Moons radius=5 cm

Moons area=π×52 =25π sq.cm

Also,

Radius of Earths shadow=3 cm

Area of Earths shadow =π×32 =9π sq.cm

Hence,

Area of Moons crescent=25π9π =16π sq.cm
