Mouse Land is making a mound of cheese for the winter. They need to store 2 kg of cheese. Two mice bring 175 g of cheese each, and three other mice bring 250 g of cheese each. How much more cheese do they need?

The first two mice bring 175 g cheese each.

∴ Cheese brought by 2 mice
= 175 g + 175 g
= 350 g

Three other mice bring 250 g of cheese each.

∴ Cheese brought by 3 mice
= 250 g + 250 g +250 g
= 500 g + 250 g
= 750 g

Cheese brought by all 5 mice
= 350 g + 750 g
= 1100 g

Quantity of cheese that needs to be stored
= 2kg

We know:
1kg = 1000 g
∴ 2kg = 2× 1000 = 2000 g

∴ Quantity of cheese needed
= 2000 g - 1100 g
= 900 g

Thus, they need an additional 900 g of cheese to make the mound.
