Movable and immovable Property has been defined in various Acts

Section 2 of the Registration Act, Section 3 of the Transfer of Property Act and Section 2(7) of the Sale of Goods Act. All these acts define Grass, Stock, shares and growing crops as movable property.

Essentially anything that is attached to earth or not embedded in earth or attached to a thing that is embedded in earth are immovable properties with 3 exceptions given in the definition itself which are standing timber, grass and Growing crops.
