Total expenditure $= \frac{1}{8} + \frac{3}{8} + \frac{1}{4} = \frac{1 + 3 + 2}{8} = \frac{6}{8} = \frac{3}{4}$
Money kept for savings $=$ Total money $-$ Total expenditure
$= 1 - \frac{3}{4} = \frac{1}{4}$
