Mr. Shameem invested3313% of his savings in 20% Rs. 50 shares quoted at Rs. 60 and the remainder of the savings in 10% Rs. 100 shares quoted at Rs. 110. If his total income from these investments is Rs. 9,200; find:
i) his total savings
ii) the number of Rs. 50 shares
iii) the number of Rs. 100 shares

Let Mr. Shameem Savings = x which is divided in Part A and B.
A=13x and B=23x
Investment done by Part “A”
Fave value = Rs. 50; Market value = Rs. 60; Total number of shares bought =1180x
Dividend=FV×No. of shares×Annual dividend100=50×2330×10100=Rs.118x

Investment done by Part “B”
Fave value = Rs. 100; Market value = Rs. 110; Total number of shares bought =2330x
Dividend=FV×No. of shares×Annual dividend100=100×2330×10100=Rs.233x

Total Income=233+118x=69594x
69594x=9200x=9200×59469=Rs.79200
A = Rs. 26400 Number of Rs. 50 shares = 440 shares
B = Rs. 52800 Number of Rs. 100 shares = 480 shares
