Number of eggs that were with Mrs Kapoor = $x$

Number of eggs left after 10 eggs used for cake and half a total number of eggs given to a neighbour = $x - 10 - \frac{x}{2} \Rightarrow \frac{x}{2} - 10$ ( 1 mark )
