Solution

Let the salary of Mrs Rane be x.

Part of the salary given to his son Vinod as pocket money = 0.025 × x = 0.025x

Part of the pocket money spent by Vinod = 0.8 × 0.025x = 0.02x

Amount of money saved by Vinod = 0.025x - 0.02x = 0.005x

⇒ 0.005x = 277.50

⇒ x = (277.50) / (0.005)

⇒ x = 55500

Therefore, earnings of Mrs Rane in a month = Rs 55500
