Step 1: Finding total length of rope.
Given: Measures of four pieces of rope are $4 m 85 cm$ , $8 m 67 cm$ , $9 m 56 cm$ and $12 m 45 cm$ .
So, total length of rope $=$ Sum of all the pieces
$m cm 4 85 + 8 67 + 9 56 + 12 45 35 53$
So total length of rope is $35 m 53 cm$

Step 2: Finding total length of rope in centimeters, meters and decimeter .
We know $1 m = 100 cm$
So, $35 m 53 cm = 3500 + 53$
$= 3553 cm$
$= \frac{3553}{100} m$ [ Since, $1 m = 100 cm \Rightarrow 1 cm = \frac{1}{100} m$ ]
$= 35.53 m$
$= 35.53 \times 10 dm$ [ Since, $1 m = 10 dm$ ]
$= 355.3 dm$
Hence, the total length of the rope in terms of centimeters, meters and decimeter are $3553 cm, 35.53 m$ and $355.3 dm$ respectively.
