There are two carbons in the principle carbon chain and nitrile as a suffix is used for the nomenclature of cyanide group.
Hence the nomenclature is ethane nitrile.
It's another name is methyl cyanide, because here cyanide is the main functional group and methyl group is attached with the main functional group as a substituent.
