Dear student,
Multiple fission is a type of cell division in which nucleus first divides into several equal parts and then the cytoplasm divides into a number of daughter cells each containing a nucleus.
We can see multiple fission as a regular asexual reproductive mode in protists (eg. algae, sporozoans), single-celled parasites, some species of bacteria (eg.cyanobacteria) true slime moulds etc.
But some organisms perform multiple fission for the survival of the daughter cells under unfavorable conditions. For eg. amoeba reproduces by binary fission normally. But under unfavorable conditions, it divides rapidly inside a cyst and forms many daughter cells inside the cyst. When the condition becomes favorable, the cyst bursts to release the daughter cells.
Regards.
