(1) 4 × (x + 2)
= (4 × x) + (4 × 2)
= 4x + 8

(2) 7 × (p + q)
= (7 × p) + (7 × q)
= 7p + 7q

(3) m (x + y)
= (m × x) + (m × y)
= mx + my

(4) 3p × (p2 – 4)
= (3p × p2) – (3p × 4)
= (3 × p × p × p) – (3 × p × 4)
= 3p3 × ((3 × 4) × p)
= 3p3 – 12p

(5) (2x2 × 3x) × 3xy
= (3xy × 2x2) – (3xy × 3x)
= (3 × x × y × 2 × x × x) – (3 × x × y × 3 × x)
= ((3 × 2) × (x × x × x) × y) – ((3 × 3) × (x × x) × y)
= 6x3y – 9x2y
