Let the number of oranges with me be x
Number of oranges with my friend = $2 x - 3$
$\frac{number of oranges I have}{number of oranges my friend has}$ = $\frac{x}{2 x - 3} = \frac{2}{3}$
$3 \times x = 2 \times (2 x - 3)$
$3 x = 4 x - 6$
$x = 6$
So I have 6 oranges.
My friend has $2 x - 3 = 2 \times 6 - 3 = 12 - 3 = 9$ oranges.
