Jane is making strawberry shakes for her friends. From a container with 50 pints of pure milk, she takes out 5 pints of milk and adds the same quantity of water to the container.
Later, some more of Jane's friends come over and ask for more shakes. So, Jane takes out 10 pints of the mixture.

Find the quantity of water in pint(s) in the mixture taken out to make strawberry shakes.

The correct option is C 1 pint
Initial quantity of pure milk in the
container = 50 pints
Quantity of milk taken out and replaced with water = 5 pints

∴ Quantity of pure milk left in the container = 50 – 5 = 45 pints

So, the ratio of pure milk to water in the container = 45:5 = 9:1

Now, the quantity of mixture taken out for making strawberry shakes = 10 pints

The ratio of milk and water will remain the same in the mixture that is taken out by Jane.

So, the ratio of milk and water in 10 pints of the mixture will be 9:1.

Quantity of milk=910× 10=9 pints

Quantity of water=110× 10=1 pint

Thus, the quantity of water in 10 pints of the mixture is 1 pint.
