Question

How does ball bearing reduce friction?

Open in App
Solution

Ball bearing reduce friction by using smooth balls lubricated with oil or grease that freely roll between a smooth inner and outer surface. As we know, rolling friction is less than sliding friction, the inner and the outer layers roll over each other rather than sliding. Hence, ball bearings reduces friction.
