In a zoo, a panda slept 40 hours in 5 days and a tiger slept 42 hours in 6 days. Which animal slept more hours in a day if they sleep equal hours every day?

The panda slept 40 hours in 5 days
=> Number of hours the panda slept in a day = 40 ÷ 5
From the multiplication table of 5, we know that 5 × 8 = 40.
Since division is the reverse of multiplication, 40 ÷ 5 = 8
So the panda slept 8 hours a day.

The tiger slept 42 hours in 6 days.
=> Number of hours the tiger slept in a day = 42 ÷ 6
From the multiplication table of 6, we know that 6 × 7 = 42.
Since division is the reverse of multiplication, 42 ÷ 6 = 7
So the tiger slept 7 hours a day.
Thus, the panda slept more in a day. [8>7]
