In a class, there are 40 students. One-fourth of the students are boys, out of these boys one-fifth play basketball and the remaining play football. What is the fraction of boys playing football when compared to the entire class?

The correct option is B 840
Fraction of boys studying in class = 14
So, the total number of boys in the class is equal to
14×40=40÷4 = 10

Now, out of these 10 boys in the class, only one-fifith or 15 play basketball.
Hence, the total number of boys playing basketball is equal to
15×10 =10÷5=2

The total number of boys playing football is equal to 102 = 8

So, now we can calculate the fraction of boys playing football with respect to the entire class.

Fraction = Number of boys playing footballTotal number of students

Fraction = 840
