Causes for the Industrial Revolution

Undisturbed by the Napoleonic wars: While the countries in mainland Europe were busy fighting Napoleonic wars, Britain was undisturbed. The peace and freedom in England enabled the English to progress.

Skilled Emigrants: Spanish and French people moved to England to escape war and intolerance. These people brought with them their wealth, a wide variety of mechanical skills and craftsmanship.

Agrarian Revolution: The Agrarian revolution helped the English to achieve relatively more agricultural output with less manpower. So the surplus workforce could be leveraged to run the factories.

Exploitation of the colonies: England had a number of colonies in Africa and Asia. They were used as
