In a school, there are 1200 students in grade 4. 900 students in grade 5 are boys, and the total number of boys in grades 4 and 5 are 1500.
Find the number of girls in grade 5 if the number of girls in grade 5 is twice the number of girls in grade 4.

The correct option is B 1200
Number of boys:
Number of boys in grade 5 = 900
Total number of boys in grades 4
and 5 = 1500

∴ Number of boys in grade 4
= 1500 – 900 = 600

Number of girls:
Total students in grade 4 = 1200
Number of boys in grade 4 = 600
∴ Number of girls in grade 4
= 1200 – 600 = 600

Number of girls in grade 5
= 2 × Number of girls in grade 4
= 2 × 600
= 1200

Thus, there are 1200 girls in grade 5.
