Give a balanced chemical equation for the above word equation.

The chemical equation for the given word equation is:

Ca(OH)2(aq) + CO2(g) CaCO3 (aq) + H2O(aq)

On counting the number of atoms on both sides, we have: -
  • The number of calcium atoms present on the reactant and product side is 1.
  • The number of oxygen atoms present on the reactant and product side is 4.
  • The number of hydrogen atoms present on the reactant and product side is 2.
  • The number of carbon atoms present on the reactant and product side is 1.
Hence, the equation is already balanced.
