But after the Battle of Kalinga, having witnessed all the death and destruction and pain, he decided to embrace Buddhism and spend the rest of his life spreading the message of peace and dharma.
In fact, it was during his reign that Buddhism spread to different parts of Asia.
Ashoka was a great humanitarian who created a lot of structures for the public like roads, hospitals for animals, etc.
