The number of steps climbed by
Kiara = S
Maya = S – 7
Diana = S + 8

Sum of steps climbed by Maya and Diana = (S – 7) + (S + 8)
= S – 7 + S + 8
= 2S + 1

The total number of steps is 10 less than 4 times the sum of the steps climbed by Maya and Diana.
