  3. In order to form a positive ion, Naloses one electron. Therefore, Na+ ion possesses 10 electrons, which is one more than the Na atom. As a result, 2 electrons move to the K-shell and 8 to the L-shell, entirely filling both shells.
    The number of electrons in Na+is calculated as 11 - 1 = 10.

    K and L shells are thus fully filled in Na+.
