Question

Na2CO3+Hcl,_______≥NaCL+NaHCO3. Na2CO3+HcL________≥NaCL+H2o+CO2 why is it written like that ,is this equation both write?

Solution

The first reaction occurs when equimolar amounts of reactants are added together, producing sodium bicarbonate and sodium chloride.that is, Hydrochloric acid & sodium carbonate react to produce sodium chloride, carbon dioxide and water. Brisk effervescence are seen due to carbon dioxide gas formation.The equation is;-

Na2CO3 + HCl ----> NaHCO3 +NaCl

As more HCl is added the sodium bicarbonate reacts with it to produce CO2, NaCl and H2O;-

NaHCO3 + HCl ----> NaCl + CO2 + H2O
so both the equations are correct.
