Solution

Definition of homogenous and heterogeneous mixture:

  1. A homogenous mixture is a mixture in which the components mix with each other and its composition is uniform throughout the solution.
  2. A heterogeneous mixture is that mixture in which the composition is not uniform throughout and different components are present.

About the colloidal solution:

  1. Colloidal solution: It is a heterogeneous mixture made up of two phases namely, the dispersed phase and the dispersion medium.
  2. The substance distributed as particles is called the dispersed phase.
  3. The continuous phase in which the colloidal particles are dispersed is called the dispersion medium.
  4. Solid in Solid: Solute in Solid (dispersed phase) and Solvent Solid (Dispersed medium)
  5. Homogeneous solution Example: Alloys such as Brass(Zinc+Copper) and Bronze(Zinc+Tin+Copper)
  6. Heterogeneous solution example:Sand+Commonsalt, Iron+Sulphurand Charcoal+sulphur
