Solution

Microfilaments:

  1. Microfilaments, also called the actin filaments, as it consists of 2 intertwined strands of a globular protein known as actin.
  2. They are polymers of protein actin & are the smallest filaments of the cytoskeleton.
  3. They also have a vital role in cell movements, cell division, & muscle contraction.
  4. Microfilaments are versatile components and they play a major role in cytokinesis and the shape of a cell.
  5. The flexible arrangement of the filaments framework allows it to help in the cell movement i.e. amoeboid movement.
  6. Microfilaments are the leanest filaments of cytoskeleton present in the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells with a diameter of about 5- 8 nanometers.
