Solution

Thyroxine:

  1. Thyroxine is an important hormone produced by the thyroid gland.
  2. This hormone maintains the growth and development of the human body.
  3. When thyroxine is secreted in lower concentration by the thyroid gland, it leads to a condition called goitre.
  4. In goitre, the thyroid gland swells up and a lump appears at the front of the neck.

Hence, under secretion of thyroxine causes goitre.
