Nematoda infecting tobacco plant:

  1. Meloidogyne incognita that is a root infecting nematode. It is also called as southern root knot nematode.
  2. The parasitic nematode has numerous plant hosts including tobacco. It also usually attack roots of tobacco & many other host plants.
  3. Such infection of tobacco plant roots by this nematode is very common and destructive as it affects the quality and yield of tobacco.
  4. Tobacco plants which have this nematode infection show the same symptoms as nutrient deficiency.
  5. Plants become yellow, wilted, and stunted in growth and ultimately there is premature death of plants.
